At the Lidl distribution centre in Exeter we cut and reinstated a 75-metre service channel rated for constant HGV traffic.

Civils, drainage and hard landscaping on sites that cannot stop while we work.
Groundworks & Excavation
Site clearance, levelling and excavation for new build, extensions and outdoor works. At Millbrook we excavated a 2,500 × 3,000mm area to reach a collapsed drain, repaired it, and reinstated with two tonnes of type 1 MOT, new tarmac, sealed.
Service Channels & Reinstatement
Cutting, infilling and reinstating ducting and service runs in live industrial floors. At Lidl Exeter our groundworks team cut a 75 linear metre channel with a diamond blade channel cutter, then infilled with C40 cement and A142 12mm rebate bars so it would take constant HGV loading.
Drainage
Chamber clearance, CCTV drainage surveys, collapsed drain repair and flood mitigation, including watercourse and bank restoration where a culvert has burst.
Hard Landscaping & Surfacing
Paths, patios, car parking and hard surfaces, laid on a base built for the traffic it will actually carry rather than the traffic in the drawing. At Aviva in Chandler’s Ford we broke out a worn stone and tarmac walkway, laid a new sub-base and block paved the courtyard routes, with circular surrounds around the established trees.
Landscape Design & Construction
Design through to completion for commercial sites, offices, retail and industrial parks, working to your budget and to how much maintenance you want to be signing up for afterwards.
Site Protection & Safety
Exclusion zones, hoarding, protective plating and barriers. At Lidl we protected surface-mounted earthing terminals with pre-fabricated checker plate and delivered 30 concrete jersey barriers to site.

How a groundworks job runs

Survey and setting out
We establish what is actually under the ground and what the finished surface has to carry. Getting the loading wrong is what makes a reinstatement fail in eighteen months.

Programme built around a working site
Most of our groundworks happens on sites that cannot stop. Lidl was a live distribution centre and we worked in tandem with the client’s own electricians around their installation.

Multiple trades, one programme
We can put a civils gang and vegetation operatives on the same site on the same day, as we did at Millbrook, rather than sequencing around someone else’s diary.

The right specification, stated
C40 cement, A142 rebate bars, type 1 MOT, checker plate. We name what is going in, and you can hold us to it.

Made good and handed back clean
At Lidl the entire working area was pressure washed on completion. A groundworks job that leaves a mess is not finished.

At Lidl Exeter we cut a service channel with a diamond blade channel cutter, worked in tandem with the client’s electricians around their ducting installation, and reinstated the floor. £37,000 in 10 days.

Drainage we can actually see into
At Millbrook we cleared the chambers, then ran a CCTV survey of every adjacent drain rather than guessing. That is what found the collapsed drain underneath the problem.

A civils gang and a veg crew on the same day
Millbrook needed river banks restored and drainage excavated at once. We sent both, together, and finished in six days.

We protect what we are working around
Earthing terminals plated with pre-fabricated checker plate, 30 concrete jersey barriers delivered, exclusion zones built. On a working site the protection is half the job.

Every material carried through a working office
The Aviva courtyard in Chandler’s Ford had every delivery made to the east car park, and all the materials were carried by hand through the building while the offices stayed in use. Scheduled weekend shifts held the 21 days.

We leave it clean
The whole Lidl working area was pressure washed on completion, and before-and-after photos come as standard.

Can you work on a site that is still operating?
Yes, most of our groundworks is on live sites. Lidl Exeter was a working distribution centre with HGV movements throughout, and we sequenced our work around the client’s own electricians installing ducting in the same channel.
Who does the digging?
Vetted civils gangs and groundworks operatives, organised by us under the same contract as the other trades, which is why we can put several trades on one site the same day rather than waiting on someone else’s diary.
Do you handle drainage as well as surfacing?
Yes. Chamber clearance, CCTV surveys, collapsed drain repair, flood mitigation and watercourse restoration. At Millbrook we did all of it inside six days, then reinstated with type 1 MOT and new tarmac.
What surface specification will you use?
We name it in the quote rather than leaving it open. On a channel reinstatement carrying HGV traffic that meant C40 cement with A142 12mm rebate bars. On a footpath it would be something else entirely. Ask and we will tell you why we have specified what we have.
Do you do ongoing maintenance as well?
Landscaping and groundworks is construction work. If you want the site maintained on a schedule afterwards, that is our grounds maintenance service, and plenty of clients take both.
