Aviva Chandler’s Ford: Courtyard Remodelling

Airwaves FM remodelled the central courtyard and replaced the walkways at Aviva’s office on Templars Way, Chandler’s Ford, working for Mitie Landscapes. Work started in mid-September 2025, and the building stayed fully open throughout. A senior executive visit set a fixed deadline, which left 21 days to finish the job.

Pathway replacement

The old stone and tarmac walkway had deteriorated. We broke it out and took it away, laid a new sub-base, and block paved the main walkways, adding circular paved surrounds around the established trees. The new paths give staff and disabled visitors safe, accessible routes across the courtyard.

Courtyard planting

The planting areas were cleared, laid with weed membrane and finished in natural bark chippings, which keeps them tidy without constant attention. We built sleeper beds and filled them with established flowers and plants, then added more planting at ground level around them.

Working around a live office

• The offices stayed in use. The team worked to strict PPE rules, managed waste carefully and kept disruption to the business to a minimum.
• Everything came through the building. Every delivery was made to the east side of the car park, and all the materials were carried by hand through the office to reach the courtyard.
• Weekends were planned in. Scheduled weekend shifts kept the 21 days on track despite the delivery constraint.

The courtyard was handed back on schedule.
