Waste Management
Every stream your site produces (general, recycling, food, WEEE, hazardous and clinical) under one registered carrier, with the transfer notes that discharge your duty of care.
Request a quoteIn short
Airwaves Facilities Management provides commercial waste collection, recycling and waste auditing across the UK. We are registered with the Environment Agency as an upper tier waste carrier, CBDU579429, which covers hazardous waste as well as general and recyclable streams, and we help sites meet the workplace recycling separation rules now in force in England.
Information on waste management services
How we handle your waste
Registered, documented and separated properly, including the streams most contractors will not take.
General Waste Collection
Routine collection from commercial premises, offices, industrial sites and retail. The residual waste left once everything recyclable has been taken out of it.
Recycling Collections
Separated collections for paper and card, plastic, glass, metals and food waste, which is what the current workplace recycling rules in England require most sites to be doing.
Food Waste
Separate food waste collection, including inedible material such as bones, eggshells, peelings, tea bags and coffee grounds. Under Simpler Recycling, workplaces in England with 10 or more full-time equivalent staff have had to separate food waste from general waste since 31 March 2025; sites under 10 have until 31 March 2027.
Hazardous & Clinical Waste
Chemicals, oils, solvents, batteries and asbestos-containing materials, plus clinical and healthcare waste for medical, dental and care settings. Our Environment Agency registration is upper tier, which is what carrying hazardous waste requires.
WEEE & Electrical Waste
Collection and disposal of electrical and electronic equipment, which cannot go in general waste.
Waste Audits & Transfer Notes
We analyse what your site actually throws away and where it goes, then show where waste can be reduced, reused or recycled more effectively. Waste transfer notes are issued as standard, because your duty of care does not transfer when the bin is emptied.
What's included
How a waste contract runs
-
We audit before we quote
What streams you produce, in what volume, and what you are currently paying to move. A quote written without that is a guess, and usually a guess in the contractor’s favour.
-
We set up the separation you are required to have
Workplace recycling rules in England require most sites to separate dry recyclables and food waste from residual waste. We set the streams and containers up so that is straightforward rather than something your staff have to think about.
-
We agree the collection schedule
Weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly depending on the stream and the volume. Food waste generally needs collecting more often than card does.
-
Registered carrier, and the paperwork to prove it
We are registered with the Environment Agency as an upper tier waste carrier under CBDU579429, which you can check on the public register. Waste transfer notes are issued as standard.
-
We report on where it went
Clients receive reports covering their waste streams and what was diverted from landfill, so the environmental side of your reporting has something real behind it rather than an assumption.
-
We review it
Volumes change. A contract set up two years ago is usually the wrong contract now, and a review normally finds either a saving or a compliance gap.
Included as standard
- Waste audit before the contract is set
- Streams and containers set up for the separation rules
- Environment Agency upper tier registered carrier, CBDU579429
- All waste types, including hazardous and clinical
- Waste transfer notes issued as standard
- Landfill diversion reporting
They always provide us with before and after photos which we request, and go above and beyond in reporting other site issues to us, often asking if we need a quote to have these works rectified.
Why choose us
Why us for waste management?
Your duty of care does not end when the bin is emptied, which is why the registration and the paperwork matter as much as the collection.
-
Registered waste carrier CBDU579429
A registration number you can check yourself on the Environment Agency’s public register, right now, before you speak to us. Anyone moving your waste legally has to hold one.
-
Hazardous and clinical waste too
Chemicals, oils, solvents, batteries and clinical waste, under an upper tier Environment Agency registration, which is what carrying hazardous waste actually requires. One contractor for every stream your site produces, rather than a separate arrangement for the difficult ones.
-
Waste transfer notes as standard
Legally, responsibility for your waste stays with you after it leaves site. We issue the documentation as standard rather than when someone chases it, because it is the part that gets audited.
-
We audit before we quote
We analyse your waste streams and show where waste can be reduced, reused or recycled more effectively, which usually means finding a collection you are paying for and do not need.
-
We set you up for the rules you are actually subject to
Workplaces in England with 10 or more full-time equivalent staff have had to separate food waste and dry recyclables since 31 March 2025. Smaller sites follow in March 2027. We set the streams up so compliance is the default.
-
We report what was diverted
Clients receive reports on their streams and what was kept out of landfill, so your own environmental reporting has something behind it.
-
Over 50 people, since 2017
Airwaves has been trading since March 2017 and the team is now more than fifty strong. Big enough to cover a national portfolio, small enough that you are not passed between account managers.
Before you enquire
Waste Management: your questions answered
Are you licensed to take our waste?
Yes. Our Environment Agency waste carrier registration is CBDU579429, and you can look that up on the public register without asking us for anything. Anyone transporting your waste is legally required to hold one, and it is worth checking before you appoint a contractor.
Do you take hazardous or clinical waste?
Yes, both. Chemicals, oils, solvents, batteries and asbestos-containing materials, plus clinical and healthcare waste. Our registration is upper tier, which is the registration carrying hazardous waste requires. Worth checking any contractor holds it before they take that kind of load off your site.
Whose responsibility is our waste once you have taken it?
Legally, yours as well as ours. Duty of care means the producer stays responsible for making sure waste is handled properly, which is why we issue waste transfer notes as standard and why you should keep them.
What do the recycling rules mean for us?
If you are a workplace in England with 10 or more full-time equivalent staff, you have had to separate food waste and dry recyclables (paper and card, plastic, glass and metal) from general waste since 31 March 2025. Under 10 staff, the date is 31 March 2027. We set the streams and containers up so it works without your team having to think about it. (General position under the workplace recycling rules, not advice on your particular site.)
How often will you collect?
It depends on the stream. Food waste needs collecting more frequently than cardboard; a busy retail site produces more than an office of the same size. We audit first and set a schedule per stream rather than one frequency for everything.
Can you tell us where our waste actually goes?
Yes. We generate reports for clients covering their waste streams and what was diverted from landfill. If you have environmental reporting of your own to complete, that is the number you need and most waste contracts will not give it to you.
Do we need to provide the bins?
Usually yes. Most clients already have containers, and we work with what is on site. If yours are not right for the streams you now have to separate, tell us and we will sort something out.
