In short

Airwaves Facilities Management provides commercial and industrial painting and decorating for offices, depots, retail units and managed residential blocks across the UK. We work in hours or out of hours to suit your operation. For Stagecoach in Oxford we redecorated 19 office rooms and two maintenance hangars over 14 weeks.

Information on painting & decorating

Decorating work we take on

Interiors, exteriors and industrial floor coatings, prepared properly so the finish lasts.

Interior Painting & Decorating

Walls, ceilings, woodwork and interior doors, in matte through to gloss. At Stagecoach Oxford we redecorated across a split-level space including a mezzanine, so awkward access is normal work rather than an exception.

Exterior Painting & Decorating

Brick, render, timber and metal, in weather-resistant systems that hold up against UV, rain and temperature swings. That is the difference between a finish that lasts and one you repaint in two years.

Industrial Floor Coatings

Two-pack epoxy resin floor covering, including hazard-area marking. We laid this across 1,200m² of maintenance hangar floor at Stagecoach after steam cleaning and degreasing the substrate.

Surface Preparation & Repair

Cleaning, sanding and priming, plus treatment of mould, mildew and peeling paint. Where a surface is contaminated rather than just dirty we deep clean it first. The hangar walls at Stagecoach were cleaned using a sky vac system before any paint went near them.

Making Good Before Decorating

Plasterboard, skirting, architrave and internal doors, renewed by our fabric repairs team so the decorating is not waiting on another contractor.

What's included

How a decorating contract runs

  1. Survey and specification

We walk the site, establish what the substrates actually are, and write the specification against that rather than against a square-metre rate. Contaminated or damp surfaces get flagged here, not discovered halfway through.

  2. Preparation, in writing

The specification states what preparation is included: cleaning, sanding, priming, mould treatment, making good. This is the line item most commonly left vague on a decorating quote, and it is the one that decides whether the finish lasts.

  3. Programme agreed around your operation, including out of hours

We decorate in hours or out of hours, whichever costs you less disruption. Stagecoach ran 14 weeks across live offices and two working maintenance hangars, phased so the depot kept operating.

  4. Progress reported from site

Our teams carry mobile devices and tablets and report directly from site, so you see progress without chasing it. Before-and-after photos are supplied as standard, and one client, OBMS, singles this out in their Google review.

  5. Quality reviews against agreed KPIs

When we take on a new customer we agree the KPIs that matter to you, monitor them in regular reporting, and hold quality reviews to seek feedback rather than wait for complaints.

Included as standard

  • In hours or out of hours, whichever disrupts you less
  • Surface preparation as specified, not as an extra
  • Protection and masking of floors, fittings and adjacent finishes
  • Making good: plasterboard, skirting, architrave, doors
  • Before-and-after photography
  • Waste removal and site clean on completion
Had Aaron and Mike over to re-plaster my ceiling and they've done a fantastic job. Really nice friendly guys as well who went above and beyond.

Why choose us

Why us for painting & decorating?

Most decorating quotes are vague in exactly the place that decides whether the finish lasts. Ours is not.

  • £92,000 over 14 weeks

We redecorated 19 internal office rooms and renovated two maintenance hangars for Stagecoach in Oxford between March and June 2024, renewing all ceiling and carpet tiles and the kitchen along the way.

  • We prepare, then we paint

Those hangar walls were deep cleaned with a sky vac system to remove dirt and debris before the two-tone finish went on. Paint over dirt is a job you pay for twice.

  • Floors as well as walls

1,200m² of hangar floor steam cleaned using the Tensid Torik stone cleaning system, degreased, then finished in two-pack epoxy resin with hazard areas marked out.

  • The trades either side of the brush

At Square on the Square in Birmingham we renewed all plasterboard, skirting, architrave and internal doors, and rebuilt a wardrobe to match the original, before any decorating began.

  • We dry a wall before we decorate it

That job ran a three-week drying programme with heating fans and industrial dehumidifiers, and we only started renovating once a certificate of dryness had been produced.

  • In hours or out of hours

We decorate whichever way costs you least disruption, evenings and weekends included. For a trading retail unit or a live office, that is usually the difference between a job you can allow and one you have to postpone.

  • Over 50 people, since 2017

Airwaves has been trading since March 2017 and the team is now more than fifty strong. Big enough to cover a national portfolio, small enough that you are not passed between account managers.

Before you enquire

Painting & Decorating: your questions answered

Do you decorate buildings that are still in use?

Yes, in hours or out of hours. The Stagecoach contract ran across live offices and two working maintenance hangars over 14 weeks, phased so the depot kept operating. Where daytime work is not practical, as in a trading shop or an occupied office, we work evenings and weekends instead.

What preparation is actually included in the price?

Whatever the specification says, and we write the specification after surveying the substrates. Cleaning, sanding, priming and treatment of mould, mildew or peeling paint are named line items, not assumptions. Where a surface needs deep cleaning first, that is quoted as its own step.

Can you handle the work either side of decorating?

Yes. Plasterboard, skirting, architrave, internal doors and joinery are handled by our fabric repairs team. At Square on the Square we did the full strip-out, drying programme and renovation before decorating, all under one contract.

Do you do industrial floor coatings as well as walls?

Yes. Two-pack epoxy resin systems including hazard-area marking, over a properly prepared substrate. We steam cleaned and degreased 1,200m² of hangar floor at Stagecoach before coating it.

Are you accredited and insured?

We hold ISO 9001:2015 certification, CHAS accreditation, SafeContractor approval and Constructionline registration, and carry public liability insurance. Every certificate is downloadable from our certifications page rather than just claimed.

What areas do you cover?

The whole UK. We are based at Berkswell in the West Midlands, and the decorating jobs on this page were in Oxford and Birmingham.
